About Us

Our aim is to build a strong community between junior and aspiring lawyers in Kirklees & Calderdale districts and surrounding areas by providing members with a forum to attend professional training and, social, educational and networking events.

We have re-established our local JLD from a love of our community and a desire to help promote diversity in the future generation of lawyers by establishing a strong local presence and encouraging members to network, working closely with the Halifax Law Society, Huddersfield University and The Huddersfield & Dewsbury Incorporated Law Society.

Members are kept informed about our upcoming events through regular social media updates and emails.

The membership year runs from January to December, with nominations for elections to the committee in September at the AGM and the new committee announced in December.

Joining the Kirklees & Calderdale JLD is free with events subsidised by sponsorships.

Membership is open to:

• Law Students (Undergraduate, GDL and LPC)

• Legal Assistants

• Paralegals

• Trainee and Apprentice Solicitors (via the Training Contract and SQE routes)

• NQ Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and Chartered Legal Executives with up to five years' PQE
